India is gearing up to take a giant leap in computational science with plans to install a 30-petaflop supercomputer at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in Bengaluru.

This high-performance system will be one of the most powerful in Asia, capable of handling AI model training, climate research, genomic analysis, and space simulations — marking a major milestone in India’s journey toward digital self-reliance and scientific leadership.

The upcoming facility will strengthen India’s National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), a government-led initiative to develop advanced computing infrastructure and nurture AI-driven innovation across research and industry.

Experts believe the new supercomputer will accelerate breakthroughs in weather forecasting, healthcare, and sustainable energy, while also providing computational support to startups and academic researchers.
